Corfu, Greece
Around 11 a.m, on Easter Saturday, the inhabitants of the greek islands of Corfu, throw vases and other pieces of pottery from their windows to the streets. The roots of this tradition aren´t well known but it is believed that it might have been originated in a Venetian New Year´s tradition, where the people used to throw their objects from the windows, hoping to receive new ones.
Norway
This tradition has its origins in 1923 when two Norwegian authors paid a newspaper to publish their crime novel as front page news. The novel tittled “The Bergen Train was robbed at night” was published on Easter Sunday. Since then it became a tradition around the country to read crime novels during Easter. It was even possible to find them printed on milk cartoons and other unusual places!
Finland
In Finland around Easter children plant grass in small portable vases and watch it grow. It takes about 5-6 days and it represents a sign of the upcoming spring time, when the country starts to turn green after months of snow.
